Primary Purpose:

The Senior Post-Production Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to support all our post-production equipment and workflow in use on some of the industry’s biggest studio feature films and episodic television drama.

In this varied, complex and challenging role they will primarily be responsible for implementing and maintaining the various Mac, Linux and Windows post-production systems, storage and networking, as well as for the design and
configuration – including the overall architecture of our networks and troubleshooting it where necessary. Tailored devices and systems will need to be designed and implemented, with the ability to be able to monitor and control.

They will be responsible for, but not limited to, production & post-production technology, the technical facilities, technology pipelines, workflow, colour science, high-end theatrical audio specifications, calibration schedules, data movement, content security and adherence to industry standard technical specifications and delivery requirements of major studios and networks.

The candidate should have an already established successful track record of working at similar levels within large studio and/or post-production companies delivering content of a comparable standard and profile for both film and


Key Responsibilities:

​Maintenance of servers, networks and storage.

Provision and maintenance of post-production system workstations.

Software implementation, licensing, asset tracking and updates.

Management of users/groups, permissions, file sharing and network security.

Creation and maintenance of system documentation.

Research & development, planning, implementation and maintenance plan for all post-production equipment.

Storage support, management, configuration and optimization.

Research & development, planning, implementation and maintenance plan for all post-production equipment.

In-depth understanding of motion picture and audio capture, processing, and displays from the traditional emulsion-based process to the latest professional digital cameras and high dynamic range displays.

Detailed understanding of industry standard technical standards and specifications ensuring our facility’s adherence – ensuring efficient and industry compliant deliverables.

Maintaining those relationships to ensure we are on the frontline of emerging technology, standards and workflow.

Excellent understanding of industry standardization bodies and their policies and technical specifications to ensure we are producing fully compliant deliverables.

Ability to manage enterprise level firewalls and IT equipment.

Extensive experience with Mac OSX, Windows and Linux operating systems at an advanced/admin level.

Provide technical support for users using Linux, Windows and MacOS.

Excellent working knowledge of Aspera and other secure file transfer networks and platforms.

Preparing audio dubbing theatres to client specifications.

Decommissioning of redundant equipment.

Manage the Ticketing System, assigning, resolving and escalating tasks when required.

Ensuring cable schedules, inventories and technical drawings are kept up to date.

Understanding of professional AV signal and compression standards.

Experience of working with immersive sound formats including Dolby ATMOS.

Skills Required:

Knowledge about different network design and topologies that interact to form a secure IT network.

Configure and troubleshoot VLAN and inter-switch communications.

Proven track record of resolving basic issues associated with system configuration management, resource sharing and basic networking concepts.

Experience in resolving security issues.

Must enjoy complex problem solving and delivering results.

Experience with virtualised machine environments, render pipelines.

Ability to monitor and identify network policy violations and system breaches.

Extensive experience with SAN and NAS style production storage systems.

Storage support, management, configuration and optimization.

Excellent working knowledge of Aspera and other secure file transfer networks and platforms.

Scripting, Python & BASH.

Extensive experience with Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems to admin level.

Administration of MS Active Directory, Quest, NIS, DNS and familiarity of UID/GID principals in multi-OS environments.

Experience of maintenance of fibre channel switches, networking, IP switches, routers and firewalls.

Experience and understanding of server installation, configuration and maintenance.

System imaging deployment and management.

Experience with video wiring/routing and audio wiring/routing.

Fault diagnosis to component level.

Good understanding of industry technical standards and specifications.

Previous experience of first line support of workstation, network and server infrastructure.

A self-starter who can work independently but also collaboratively with the department team.

Work a flexible schedule; weekend and evening shifts are possible.

Maintain data integrity and standards compliance checks.

Outcome driven and highly efficient.

Ability to multitask and prioritise.

Numerate with good maths, able to remain accurate under stress.

Familiarity with Conditions of Service, Contract of Employment, Health and Safety and their impact on staff.

Understands the importance of Twickenham Film Studios values, policies, procedures and guidelines including Health & Safety guidelines.


Desirable experience

Experience in maintaining and supporting large format mixing consoles with knowledge of AMS-Neve DFC.

Expert level knowledge of Avid Pro-Tools software/hardware set up and configuration.

Scripting knowledge – to automate and to offer improvements in process, automation and security.
