BAFTA 2022 Longlist

The TFS Team are thrilled to see three features they have worked on make the coveted longlist for Best Sound at this year’s BAFTA Awards 2022 – listed in alphabetical order:

🎥 Last Night In Soho
Working closely with Focus Features and Working Title Films, the TFS team was very proud to join Lead Mixer Julian Slater, with Tim Cavagin and William Miller co-mixing on the film, with Dan Morgan as Co-Sound Supervisor and Arthur Graley as Sound Editor.

🎥 Belfast
The mix was completed in Sound Theatre 2 with Mixers Simon Chase and Niv Adiri.⁠
Sound Design was by Soundbyte Studios and supervised by James Mather.⁠

TFS carries out Foley on new BBC series, The Tourist.

The hugely popular mini-series The Tourist stars Jamie Dornan, Danielle Macdonald and Shalom Brune-Franklin.

It tells the edge-of-seat story of a man who wakes up in the Australian outback with no memory. Using the few clues he has, he tries recovering his identity before his past catches up with him.

Working alongside the Sound Supervisors at Phaze UK, the TFS team recorded the Foley, with Adam Mendez as Foley Mixer, Sophia Hardman looking after Foley Editorial. With Oli Ferris and Sue Harding as Foley Artists.

The series premiered on BBC One in the UK, HBO Max in the US, on ZDF in Germany, and on Stan in Australia.

TFS sponsors the Ninth Annual AMPS Awards 2022 and is shortlisted for Excellence In Sound for Last Night In Soho

Last Night In Soho is nominated alongside Belfast, Dune, West Side Story and No Time To Die at this year’s 9th Annual AMPS Awards for Excellence In Sound.

Working closely with Focus Features and Working Title Films, the TFS team was very proud to join Lead Mixer Julian Slater, with TFS’s Tim Cavagin and William Miller Co-Mixing on Last Night In Soho, Dan Morgan as Co-Sound Supervisor and Arthur Graley as Sound Editor.

Congratulations to Simon Hayes, Arthur Fenn, Becki Ponting, Oliver Tarney and Paul Massey who worked on No Time To Die – on which the TFS team (Adam Mendez, Oli Ferris, Sophia Harding, alongside Andrea King and Sue Harding) worked with Foley Supervisor Hugo Adams to carry out the Foley.

TFS also carried out Foley on Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, with Sophia Hardman as Foley Mixer, Oli Ferris and Sue Harding as
Foley Artists and Arthur Graley as Foley Editor. The TFS Sound team also completed the mix in the newly redesigned state-of-the-art Sound Theatre 2 with Mixers Simon Chase and Niv Adiri. Sound Design was by Soundbyte Studios and Supervised by James Mather.

Sunrise Flow YOGA at TFS Terrace every Wednesday in February

Come and start the day right! Join us for a 4-week series with our instructor Wanderflow Yoga (Antonia Collyns) who will guide us through a series of morning yoga sessions to focus mind and body.

Running each Wednesday in February, from 2nd – 23rd, each class will start at 8am for 45mins. All levels are welcome including beginners. Mats, training bands and blocks will be provided.

TFS carries out Foley on new ‘Adistar: The Long Slow Run’ working with 19 Sound

With a 60-minute film received in total silence, there was a big Foley work to be done and every sound had to be created for the Adidas campaign.

We were thrilled to work with our client 19 Sound, who contacted TFS to carry the Foley work, with Adam Fil Méndez as Foley Mixer and Oli Ferris as Foley Artist.

TFS welcomes IBC remote play HADO tournament to the campus

In 2021, TFS welcomed the IBC 2021 LBXR Accelerator tournament, a project aiming at examining how technologies can amplify important aspects of Location-Based eXtended Realities, immersive interactivity and accessibility.

The TFS team – spotted cheering – was very excited to witness some proper esports taking place in their studios!

The Beatles: Get Back to be released in IMAX and on DVD/Blu-ray with Sound by TFS

Directed by Peter Jackson, the epic documentary series The Beatles: Get Back become a sensation when it got released on Disney Plus in November 2021.

The Beatles fans and music enthusiasts will be happy to know the 60-minute feature will debut at selected IMAX cinemas on 30 January 2022, marking the 53rd anniversary of the band’s epic concert.

TFS award-winning Re-recording Mixer Tim Cavagin carried out an IMAX mix of the highlights, which features the band’s famous rooftop performance mixed in Theatre 2 for IMAX cinemas.

We look forward to re-watching this instant classic!

TFS carries out Sound on Ghodwa which picks up Best Film Award at the Cairo International Film Festival

Ghodwa had a great reception, with a brilliant public reaction and sold-out screenings at the Cairo International Film Festival and the Red Sea Film Festival! The feature also won the Fipresci Award for Best Film in the International Competition at Cairo.

Directed by Dhafer L’Abidine in his directing debut, Ghodwa tells the tale of a father and son, reunited after years apart following Habib’s worrying state of health. With a deadline to catch and pressure from unpredictable events, Habib and his son Ahmed’s roles are reversed, a situation neither is prepared for.

TFS carried out Sound on this feature, with Max Walsh as Supervising Sound Editor and Re-Recording Mixer and Rob Davidson as Sound Mix Technician.

The TFS Picture team also worked on the feature – with Malcolm Ellison carrying out the Colour Grade.
