TFS appoints new roles to support the world class, Oscar winning production and post facility.

Twickenham Film Studios appoints Justin Lanchbury as Picture Post & Dailies Manager and Carl Childs as Head of Engineering as new Heads of Department to support the world class, Oscar winning production and post facility.

Justin will be utilising his wealth of experience over the last 23 years in Film and TV Postproduction and Dailies to drive growth into Twickenham and has worked extensively in both the Independent and Studio sectors. Key credits include: No Time to Die, Firebrand & Ex Machina.

‘I am thrilled to have joined such a wonderful team of Oscar winning creative talent and world class facilities in one of the UK’s most iconic film studios. It is an exciting time to join, and it’s great to be working with Andrew Boswell again.’

Carl is making his return to TFS after gaining a wealth of experience managing the design, delivery and support of unique interactive experiences and corporate AV solutions in a wide range of industry sectors across the UK and globally, so will be best placed to ensure that the five theatres and three studios are perfectly equipped for every production need.

‘Coming back to Twickenham, it’s unusual that a lot of it is familiar, but at the same time there’s a lot of change. I’m incredibly excited to be back here to support the team and the world class facilities we offer.’

WOACA Productions Ltd

Twickenham Film Studios welcomed WOACA productions Ltd this December for their shoot filmed on stage 3.

His Dark Materials

‘His Dark Materials’ based on Philip Pullman’s trilogy of the same name aired on BBC one and is available now on BBC i-player

Studio 3 hosted pick up shots for the show and welcomed Andrew Scott within the walls of Twickenham Film Studios.

Scott joins the extensive list of stars to visit TFS including Tom Cruise, Uma Thurman, Sir Michael Caine, Richard and Sir David Attenborough and Stormzy to name just a few!

I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Twickenham Film Studio were delighted to support ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’s’ VFX team with their reviews in our Preview Theatre.

Directed by Kasi Lemmons, the biopic recounts the life of one of the greatest R&B Pop Vocalists of all time, Whitney Houston. Available to watch in cinemas!

TFS Appoints New Joint MDs

Twickenham Film Studios appoint Andrew Boswell and Superna Sethi as Joint Managing Directors.

TFS RETURN

Andrew previously worked at Twickenham as Commercial Director and then interim MD between 2016-2020, overseeing all commercial activities during a period of sustained growth for the studios. Boswell joins from Lip Sync Post, where he was Commercial Director. His new role will see him tasked with growing revenue across the company’s production, digital dailies, post-production and financing businesses.

Crossfire available on BBC iPlayer

Keeley Hawes‘ tense new thriller Crossfire is now streaming on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with Twickenham Film Studios having played a pivotal role in the show’s production.

A story of survival and resilience, Crossfire is an edge-of-your-seat nail-biting thriller yet also emotional, intimate and relatable. With the unsuspecting holidaymakers and hotel staff forced to make monumental split-second life or death decisions, the consequences will linger long after the final shots are fired.

A Gaza Weekend Wins at TIFF

We are over the moon A Gaza Weekend won the International Film Critics Award at the Toronto International Film Festival 2022.

A GAZA WEEKEND

A Gaza Weekend is a British-Palestinian comedy film, directed by Basil Khalil, released in 2022. Stephen Mangan and Mouna Hawa star as Michael and Keren, a British-Israeli couple who are trying to take refuge in the Gaza Strip after the accidental release of a dangerous virus from a scientific research lab in Israel has ironically made Gaza the safest place to be due to the blockade of the region.

TFS COLLABORATION

Many of our team were involved with the making of the film including Tim Cavagin and Filipe Pereira (who worked on the mixing in Theatre 1), and Vanessa Taylor (who was a DI Colourist for the project). Look Both Ways released on Netflix

Look Both Ways, the new romantic comedy drama, directed by Wanuri Kahiu with script by April Prosser, came out this month on Netflix.

LOOK BOTH WAYS

Lili Reinhart stars as Natalie, a young woman whose life diverges into two different paths on the night of her college graduation.

In one life, she becomes pregnant and must navigate motherhood as a young adult in her hometown and in the other she moves to LA to pursue her career.

In both journeys, Natalie experiences life-changing love, pursues her dream career as an artist, and rediscovers herself.

TFS SOUND HERITAGE

It was an absolute pleasure to work on this project, with Sound Mix by Craig Irving and Will Miller undertaken in Twickenham Film Studio’s very own Theatre 2.

Thirteen Lives trailer comes out

release announced

Directed by Ron Howard, Thirteen Lives is inspired by true events which took place in 2018. The story follows the rescue mission of a group of young boys and their football coach in Thailand, when they get trapped in an underground system of caves that are flooding.

The cast features Viggo Mortensen as Richard Stanton, Colin Farrell as John Volanthen, Joel Edgerton as Richard Harris, an anaesthetist, and Sukollawat Kanarot as Saman Kunan.

Thirteen Lives is being released in selected theatres on 29 July and on Prime Video on 5 August.

Work carried out from tfs

The feature is a project led by Oliver Tarney’s sound crew, based at Twickenham Film Studios, with Sound Supervisors Oliver Tarney and Rachael Tate.

The FX mix was carried out in Theatre 1 and the Nearfield Mix was carried out in Theatre 4, with Will Miller as Mixer and Dan Turner as Mix Tech.

Foley was recorded in Theatre 3 with Adam Méndez as Foley Mixer and Oli Ferris and Sue Harding as Foley Artists.

My Policeman trailer released

My Policeman, directed by Michael Grandage, is due to be released in selected theatres on 21 October and on Prime Video on 4 November.

My Policeman, starring Harry Styles

Starring Emma Corrin as Marion, David Dawson as Patrick Hazelwood, and Harry Styles as Tom Burgess, the story explores forbidden love and changing social conventions.

The film tells the tale of three young people – policeman Tom, teacher Marion and museum curator Patrick – as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950s Britain.

Flashing forward to the 1990s, the characters look back on regret, with one last chance to repair the damage of the past.

Based on the book by Bethan Roberts, My Policeman takes you on a visually transporting and heart-stopping journey of history, freedom and forgiveness.

The team used TFS as their headquarters for their production offices, art department, costume and props. TFS’s Supervising Sound Editor Dan Morgan was the Dialogue Editor on this feature release as well as Co-Supervising Sound Editor along with Ian Wilson.
